Jerry Hunter leans in close to the computer monitor, pointing at a red-outlined vehicle traveling some highway in some city in Ohio. The satellite image tracks the vehicle in time increments of seconds. It’s almost eerie to watch the vehicle change lanes, pass a blue car and take an exit.

“It’s an ambulance, and it has sirens going,” he says, watching the high-resolution, real-time satellite image of the ambulance’s journey. “I can tell you what lane he’s in, how fast he’s going, even what parking space he’ll choose.”

Although GPS tracking and satellite visualization isn’t necessarily new, Hunter’s software is different from others. While most tracking services update a vehicle’s location and information every two minutes, US Fleet Tracking averages 10-second updates and can update as much as every second.
